The Octave 6 series is an evolution of the distinguished Octave Series. It employs Morel’s new design philosophy to deliver a dynamic blend of musicality and accuracy to re-create the excitement of live music.
Special drivers were developed alongside the enclosure to meet very specific objectives. These drivers are the heart and soul of the new series. The new 6-inch (150mm) driver, which covers the midrange in the floor-standing, features a new low profile, one-piece DPC cone and employs an oversized 3-inch (75mm) Hexatech™ aluminum voice coil spun around a titanium support base encapsulating a powerful efficient Hybrid magnet motor system.
The bass frequencies are handled by a pair of 9-inch (230mm) woofers mounted in an Isobaric configuration designed to reproduce deep bass with power and articulation from a compact reflex ported cabinet.
Morel’s renowned 1.1” (28mm) handmade Acuflex™ soft dome tweeter, was chosen for it comes very close to producing the frequency response of a theoretically perfect dome tweeter, free of undesirable high “Q” break up modes causing large out of band peaks in the response leading to a harsh and edgy sound.
Borrowed from our reference loudspeaker, the fat lady, the innovative crossover topology integrates all drivers to create the impression of a single source of sound. It also equalizes the energy output of the drivers so the speaker system has a flat frequency response and thus a natural sound. Finally, keeping the amount of components in the signal path to an absolute minimum is made to preserve the life and dynamics of the original sound, like in a live performance.
